The role of the movie producer is very important. The future success of any movie depends not only on the selection of actors and actresses, but also on the technical staff. A highly qualified producer can create a great environment on a shooting set, and thanks to this fact, a movie could have a huge success even when it does not have great acting staff.
George Lucas is one of the most popular modern producers in Hollywood and around the world. He was born on May, 1944, in Modesta, California. In his childhood, George was a short and scrawny boy. His sister fought with other kids who tried to offend the small Lucas.
He dreamt of being a racecar driver and attended the Thomas Downey High School. But this dream left him one day, when he had crashed, and was thrown from the car. The emergency personnel thought him dead at first.
After that incident, one of the yet to be most popular modern producers decided to go to college. From college he was transferred to the University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television. There he started to make films. After graduating from the University, he decided to join the Air Force as an officer, but he had too many speeding tickets, and he could not do this.
Eventually, he co-created the studio American Zoetrope with another famous modern producers - Francis Ford Coppola. After the financial success of such movies as "American Graffiti," and "Star wars Episode 4: A new Hope," George Lucas was able to found his own film studio, which is called Lucasfilm. His studio has some subdivisions, one of which, Lucasfilm Games, became highly regarded in the industry of gaming.
George Lucas became on of the greatest and richest modern producers, after his great job with the Star Wars saga and Indiana Jones trilogy. He earned hundreds of millions of dollars thanks to these films, and now his personal wealth is estimated at $ 3 billion.
Another great modern producer is Jerry Lewis. His real name is Joseph Levitch, and he was born in March, 1926. He is an American comedian actor, director and producer.
Joseph Levitch has a great filmography which starts in 1949. There are many films, where he played or which he produced. The most popular films are: "My Friend Irma Goes West," "Road to Bali," "Scared Stiff," "The Ladies Man," "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," "The King of Comedy," "Cracking Up," "Mr. Saturday Night," "Funny Bones." The last one was produced in 1995.
Jerry Lewis is also well known as a man of great charity - in 1966 he organized a telethon, which has helped to gain money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 1977. He has helped many people - even though he himself has battled diabetes, prostate cancer, and pulmonary fibrosis. He now has an electronic device, which was implanted in his back, to help reduce discomfort, which is caused by intense back pain.
