The product of designer lingerie, which includes bras, bustiers, and slips, can sit on a figure if the cut and accordingly tailoring of these products is executed faultlessly. These products are created by means of tables of the sizes of a female figure, which should correspond to the valid sizes of women.
As research has shown, these tables have became outdated, as they were made with the results of measurements made almost 20 years ago (in 1983). Now almost half of all women wear a bra of the wrong size. The measurements carried out in 1983, in a traditional way, with the help of a measuring tape on fully dressed women. The results could not have been exact; but now they are performed with the use of a scanner and a computer. Besides, each woman participating in the experiment (and there were 1500 of them), answered specially prepared questions concerning the process of purchasing designer lingerie, requirements as to quality, comfort in wearing them, and to functional properties. The analysis of the received answers has shown that 49 % of women are only conditionally satisfied, or altogether discontented with the products.
For 52 % of women, the selection of the necessary size appears to be a
big problem. Well, it is no wonder. The designer lingerie had to lean on the saved-up experience, and the inexact data, which was received in the empirical way. Using a contactless way of measurement with the help of the volumetric scanner, the scientists received exact results of the measurement of the female figure.
In comparison with the last measurements, the exact and full images of the form of a female breast have been received at last. Due to a contact less way of measurement it was possible to receive an exact volumetric picture of a female figure and to describe its mathematical means for minoosh lingerie. For the first time the manufacturers received the results, which could not be received using usual tape measure. Measurements were carried out in a total of 80 parameters, which have found reflection in 34 tables. Research has shown that the female population is becoming higher, and larger. It is obvious that the designer lingerie should change as well.
Therefore, in comparison with 1983 the quantity of the women having the volume of a cup A was reduced from 50% down to 21%. For this, the share of the women possessing a cup C increased from 8.5 % up to 20.2 %. This volume of a cup now occupies the maximal share on the market.
These tables reflect the actual proportions of a female figure and represent a basis for updating the products made in the industry. That does not reflect the production of serious designers, like verdissima and verde veronica. They have their own means and tables! However, not all can afford to purchase their products.
In the past, bras were designed on a special system, being based only on the volume under the breast separate from the rest of the body. Proceeding from this, the base design was developed for all industrial palettes: corset products, bathing suits with cups, corsets and corsages, i.e. products above the waist.
